Please ask for our Practice Manager’s details, or request a call back, if you wish to make a complaint. If your complaint is clinical in nature, it will be escalated to the relevant GP/s.

        Our Extended Medical Team

        Who are clinical/personal assistants?

These are non-clinical staff members with extra training. They help manage emails, test results, and patient recalls under a supported framework.

What does the clinical pharmacist do?

          Our clinical pharmacist:

          • Reviews medications
          • Advises GPs on prescribing
          • Supports medication safety and audits

Your doctor may refer you to the clinical pharmacist if you are on multiple medications or if they are concerned about interactions between your medications.

You may also book yourself in to see our clinical pharmacist if you would like to know more about your mediations.

Do you have student doctors or registrars?

Yes, we are a teaching practice. We have both 4th year and 6th year medical students sitting in on consultations. We also have GP registrars who are fully qualified doctors gaining advanced training under supervision.

          Health & Safety

What if I don’t want to sit in the waiting room due to illness risk?

Let reception know when you arrive—we can provide a mask or arrange for you to wait outside until your appointment.

Is the practice accessible for people with disabilities?

Yes, our building is wheelchair accessible and has a wheelchair accessible toilet. Let us know if you need any extra assistance.

                  Urgent Same-Day Appointments (Triage)

                  How can I get a same-day appointment?

If you feel your issue is urgent, phone us between 8:30am and 9:00am (Monday to Friday) to access our triage service. Urgent appointments are available every day and are accessed using our triage service. If you phone us for an urgent appointment after 9am, a nurse will call you back to assess your symptoms and, if necessary, arrange for you to be seen on the same day.

                  How does triage work?

Our reception team will add your name and number to our triage list, a doctor will then return your call, assess your symptoms, and either:

                  • Book you a same-day appointment, or
                  • Help you over the phone if appropriate, or
                  • Book you in for a non-urgent appointment

                  Repeat Prescriptions

How do I request a repeat prescription?

You can request a repeat prescription by:

                  • Using Manage My Health (our patient portal), or
                  • Phoning our reception team on 04 298 6807.
How long does it take to process repeat prescription requests?

We require 72 hours (3 working days) to process repeat prescription requests.

Can I request an urgent prescription?

We provide an urgent prescription service during our working hours, for an extra $10 (on top of your regular prescription charge). Please phone us if your request is urgent (do not use Manage My Health for urgent concerns). Alternatively, if you need medication urgently, your community pharmacist may be able to provide a 72-hour emergency supply (the pharmacy will charge you for this medication) while we prepare your prescription.

Are all medications eligible for repeat prescriptions?

Only medications that have been previously prescribed by your GP and agreed to be repeatable without an appointment are eligible. You will need to attend for a consultation with your GP at least annually if you are taking regular medications.

What information do I need when requesting a prescription?

Please have an itemised list of your medications ready when you call. This helps prevent errors. We will also ask you which pharmacy you would like us to send your prescription to.

I went to the pharmacy to collect my medication, and they have not received my prescription – what do I do?

Please phone us! Occasionally the software used to send prescriptions directly from our medical system to the pharmacy fails, and we can resend it on the spot, or arrange a printed copy for you to pick up if preferred.

How do I get a 12 month prescription?
To be considered for a 12-month prescription, you will need to book an appointment with your GP.
Not everyone is eligible for a 12-month prescription. Your doctor will review your medical conditions, current medications, and any monitoring or follow-up you may need before deciding whether a longer prescription is appropriate and safe.

                  Appointments

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment by calling our reception team on 04 298 6807 or using the Manage My Health online portal. If you are not registered for Manage My Health, ask us at reception and we will help you set up an account. Please note that we do not accept appointment bookings via email.

                  How long are standard appointments?

Standard appointments are 15 minutes long.

What if I have multiple issues to discuss in one appointment?

If you present with multiple concerns, we may not be able to address them all in one 15-minute consult. Please don’t be offended if we ask you to book a follow-up appointment. We will always begin with the most urgent concern. Please request a longer appointment if you have multiple concerns to discuss with the GP.

Can I book a longer appointment?

Yes. If you have multiple issues to discuss or need extra time, please let us know when booking. A longer consultation will incur an additional fee. You will also need a longer appointment for a driver’s licence medical, employment medical, sports, or travel-related medical, please let us know when booking so we can allow extra time and provide an accurate quote.

What happens if I'm late to my appointment?

If you are more than 5 minutes late, we may be unable to see you and your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

                  Do you accept walk-ins?

We don’t offer walk-in appointments. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, phone 111.

Do you see casual/not enrolled patients?

We only see our enrolled patients. For patients without a local GP, Team Medical at Coastlands is our closest accident and medical service.

What happens if I don’t pay my account?

If you have a regular automatic payment in place, this won’t happen.
