Privacy
Your privacy is very important to us. At Raumati Road Surgery, we are committed to protecting your personal information in line with the Health Information Privacy Code 2020 and the Privacy Act 2020 of New Zealand. These laws set out how we can collect, use, store, and share your health information – and most importantly, your rights.
When you visit our clinic, we collect personal and health information to provide you with safe, high-quality care. This may include your contact details, medical history, test results, medications, and other relevant information. We only collect what we need and always treat it with the highest level of confidentiality.
Your information is stored securely within our electronic Patient Management System. Every member of our practice team has completed training in health information privacy. We will never share your health information without your consent unless it is required by law or necessary to safeguard your health or the health of others.
As a part of enrolling with General Practice in New Zealand and receiving partially funded healthcare your health information may be shared with our PHO. Further information is available in the PHO Health Privacy Statement linked below.
You have the right to see and request a correction to your health records at any time. Our patient portal, Manage My Health, enables quick and easy access to your test results and your consultation notes.
If you have any questions or concerns about how your information is handled, please speak to one of our team or contact our Privacy Officer (practice manager).
For more detailed information about your privacy rights in New Zealand, you can visit the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at www.privacy.org.nz.

Heidi (note taking tool)
Our clinical team often use an online note taking tool, also known as an ‘AI Scribe’ called ‘Heidi’ to accurately and efficiently capture the details of your GP and nurse consultations. ‘Heidi’ ensures that we can focus more on your consultation and less on manual note taking, enhancing the quality of the care you receive.
‘Heidi’ does not make clinical decisions or suggest diagnoses. It simply creates a medical note, in the regular format of a GP consultation note, based solely on what has been discussed during the consultation. All the notes written by ‘Heidi’ are reviewed and amended (as necessary) by the clinician before they are added to your medical record. Heidi sits outside of our ‘Patient Management System’ and does not have access to any of your personal identifiers, or previous medical records.
If you notice an error in your medical notes, please notify us and we will make the appropriate amendments.
Your consent is crucial for us to use this technology. Please understand that your information will be handled with the utmost care, and ‘Heidi’s’ use is aimed solely at improving your healthcare experience, and the documentation of your consultation. If you are happy for us to use ‘Heidi’ during your consultations, we will ask you to sign a consent form. You may change your mind and withdraw your consent at any time.
For further information on the ‘Heidi’ tool, please visit their website, linked below.
